BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Emily Dellinger McGovern is a research analyst and editorial associate with the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona. She works primarily with the Center's Environmental Policy Program and Udall Center Publications on manuscript development. She is also developmental editor for volumes in the University of Arizona Press EDGE series on environment, law and policy.

Before joining the Udall Center in January 2006, she worked for two years at the Sonoran Institute, as a research assistant in the adaptive management project, with an emphasis on the social dimensions of ecosystem monitoring in the Sonoran Desert. Much of her work was focused on developing field indicators of visitor use and visitor impacts in National Parks and other public lands. While there, she also helped to develop technical reports and outreach publications on a variety of topics related to Sonoran Desert ecosystems and adaptive management.

McGovern earned her M.A. in geography at the University of Arizona in 2004. Her graduate work addressed the relevance of cross-border media institutions to social and environmental issues along the U.S.-Mexico border. She received a B.A. from Grinnell College in 1995, with a major in English literature and minor in environmental studies.

She is a former editor of you are here: the journal of creative geography, housed in the School of Geography and Development at the University of Arizona. She also is a long-term member and supporter of Tucson Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
