BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

William Mourey is the administrator of the Joint International Unit for Water, Environment and Public Policy (Unité Mixte Internationale Eau, environnement et politique publique), an agreement between the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and The University of Arizona.

A specialist in conservation in archaeology William Mourey received a doctorate in archaeology from the Université de Provence at Aix en Provence and was graduated in Law from the University of Toulon.

Most of his research at CNRS has been within the Archaeological Research Centre where he developed the conservation unit which was in charge of archaeological findings and museum artefacts. He became the head of CNRS Office for Sub-Saharan Africa from 2002 till 2006 before joining the University of Toulouse 2.

As a consultant for the UNESCO Cultural Heritage programs he worked as a teacher in several countries. He was head of the Metal Working Group of the ICOM and member of the Board of ICOM Conservation Committee.
