The Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy (NNI) Housed at the Udall Center and founded in 2001 by the University of Arizona and Udall Foundation that serves as a self-determination, governance, and development resource for Indigenous nations in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere.

The Udall Center Fellows program provides tenure-track and continuing-track faculty members at the UA with a one-semester release from teaching and other major responsibilities. This permits the Fellows to engage in research on any topic related to public policy. Since 1990, the Udall Center has hosted 152 Fellows from 42 departments and centers across ten colleges at the UA.

For over three decades, through our competitive, peer-reviewed Udall Center Fellows Program, the Udall Center has been supporting research on such diverse policy domains as mental health, welfare, elective politics, foreign affairs, philanthropy, bioethics, and corporate behavior.
In addition, Udall Center researchers have undertaken studies of general, cross-cutting policy themes, including sustainability, policy learning, and adaptive capacity related to a range of themes in our applied-policy research and engagement.
Our scholarly publications have featured policy analysis of how these concepts operate in real-world situations, especially in transboundary and Indigenous settings.
